Hi I’m April, your fearless Kids Crew Leader! Married to a SWO and mom to a 2yr old little boy. My specialty is controlled chaos, multitasking, going through plans A-Z and oh lets not forget keeper of endless snacks. 

I hold an Associates of Science from Tidewater Community College as well as a Bachelors and Masters in Early Childhood Special Education from Old Dominion University. I have taught everything from infants to grade 6, and worked in a variety of settings. So Kids Crew seems fitting right? 

As someone who was born and raised in the 757, I am so excited to be back with my own little guy, and even more excited to show others what the 757 has in store for kids. Kids Crew is a place for parents and kids to make new friendships, explore the 757 and have endless amounts of fun!  I invite you to join me on this wild ride that is Kids Crew!

I am the TOSA historian, meaning I take and/or collect photos of events during the year and compile them into a photo book or scrapbook once each year.

My husband and I served in the Army, but now we are retired and permanently settled in Virginia. We have one daughter and two granddaughters, who live 4 houses down the street from us. We enjoy cruising, and travel as often as our budget allows.

Danica is a California native who has been with her sailor for seventeen years. Together, they are raising two wonderful children and embracing the adventures of Navy life. She enjoys spending quality time with her family. 

Danica considers it a privilege to serve her military community through this role.

Hi! I’m Felicia! I’m an Active Duty Navy spouse and mom of two energetic boys. After more than a decade of military life, I’ve learned firsthand how important it is to find community wherever the military sends us.

When I’m not chasing my boys around, you’ll usually find me with a book in hand, spending the day at the beach, photographing nature and sunsets, or spending time with my family. We love long road trips, exploring national parks whenever we get the chance, and finding little adventures wherever we are.

I’m excited to serve as the chair of Walkie Talkies and Chapters & Chatter. My hope is that these groups become a place where you can meet new people, build friendships, and feel a little more at home. I can’t wait to meet you and I hope to see you at a walk or book club soon!

Raised in Oklahoma, Heather earned her BA in Sociology from Oklahoma State — Go Pokes! She's been married 29 years to fellow OSU alum Noel, an active duty (retired retained) medical entomologist. They have four kids — three adult sons and a recent H.S. grad daughter still at home — plus two 10-year-old lab mixes, Harley & Quinn. She's also a doting Mimi to almost 1-year-old Sarah, and they plan to retire near her in Colorado Springs.

Outside her own family, Heather is a proud gestational surrogate who carried and delivered 5 children for 3 different couples, including a set of twins.

She loves movies, reality TV, fishing, eating out, VR gaming, crocheting, cruises, all things Disney, and just about anything outdoors.

Hello, I’m JoAnn Moran, and I serve as the Membership Chairperson for the Tidewater Officers Spouses Association.

My husband and I are originally from Downingtown, PA.  I’ve been involved in military spouses’ groups since my husband began flight school many years ago. Along the way, our family lived in Pensacola, Florida; San Diego, California; and Patuxent River, Maryland. While stationed in Maryland, my husband decided to change career paths, and “we” headed off to medical school! After completing his training, we returned to the Navy and moved to Virginia Beach. 

We have called the Virginia Beach area home for the past 40 years. Along the way my husband and I raised five children and now have seven grandchildren who keep us busy and bring us great joy.

Being part of military spouses’ groups has always been important to me. Some of my closest and longest-lasting friendships began through the Navy community. I love the camaraderie, support, and friendships these organizations provide, and I look forward to welcoming both new and returning members to our group.

I hope to meet many of you at our upcoming events! 

Katy Carlsward serves as Member-at-Large.

Katy grew up in Harrington, Delaware, graduated from Washington College in Chestertown, Maryland, and married her husband, Guy, just six days later! As an Active Duty Navy family, they’ve enjoyed being part of many different communities over the years, both in the United States and abroad. Their son, Gage, is a freshman at the University of Florida and a member of the NROTC program.

Katy is passionate about volunteerism and currently serves with TOSA, Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society, the Virginia Zoo, WE ARE VB, and her fraternity, Zeta Tau Alpha. She is also a Sustainer with the Junior League of Norfolk-Virginia Beach and is active in the women’s ministry at Spring Branch Community Church.

When she’s not volunteering, Katy enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, staying active, and getting lost in a good book.

She looks forward to a year filled with fun, friendship, and meaningful experiences alongside her fellow members!

Lindsay Kennedy, Wine Club Concierge, clean water advocate, mom to a totally thirteen-year-old son, and terrific ten-year-old daughter, who was born in Seoul, Korea. She is also a spouse/care-partner of a Retired Paralyzed Veteran Naval Aviator. Lindsay arrived in Milton, Florida in 2021 after living, working, and thriving as a Military Spouse and Department of Defense Government Contractor in The Republic of Korea, and designated combat zones in The Kingdom of Bahrain, and Djibouti, Africa.

On August 19, 2021 fifteen years from the date of the day she became engaged, Lindsay’s husband, Commander Rob Ballard, USN, Retired; through quick actions saved his life, and that of a foreign national flight student in a TH-57C Class A Mishap in East Milton, Florida. From that day forward Lindsay’s little families’ lives changed forever. She has spent the last five years ensuring Rob can learn to live with life-altering injuries, including a complete spinal cord injury, and be as independent as possible, so he can be the best Dad, while their two children grow-up. This included a final military move, back to her hometown-Chesapeake, VA in 2024, and in the Fall of 2025, Lindsay and her family moved into Gary Sinise Foundation Specially Adapted Smart Home Number 97. 

When not organizing fun outings, exploring controlled alcohol intake as the focus, you can find Lindsay at the ballpark as Guest Services for the Summer for the Norfolk Tides, helping Coach Volleyball for Great Bridge High School, or training for her return to Mount Kilimanjaro in Africa or another big hiking adventure. 

Lynda has lived in Virginia since marrying her Coast Guard Spouse in 1990.  She has three children and one grandchild.  She's a reader and a gardener and likes to travel, especially to see her grandchild, which she does often.

Practicing gratitude for every new day as every new day is a gift. 

I am a retired CPA and I met my husband, Charles, at Cornell University. Charles retired from the Navy Surface Community. We have three grown sons and four grandsons! Yes, that is a lot of testosterone my friends!

I’m grateful to have served as TOSA Parliamentarian, and Charities Chair. I also served as a FamilyLine volunteer in the roles of COMPASS mentor and adviser, Chair of the Norfolk C.O.R.E., and Instructor and Advisory Board Member of the Navy Command Spouse Leadership Course. I am currently on the Sister Cities Association of Virginia Beach Executive Board. 

I enjoy: 

• Travel, cruise to Indonesia in the works;

• Books, am in the 5th year of the Great Books of the Western World 10-Year Reading plan, but thoroughly enjoyed “Fifty Shades…”;

• The Symphony, the Opera, the Theatre;

• Zumba! Free classes on base;

• Stargazing, also free;

• International food, especially Caribbean and Middle Eastern;

• Wine, preferably red. Goes well with international food; &

• Strong coffee, being from Puerto Rico my day is not complete without it!

Paula is the spouse of Bob, a retired Navy Surface Warfare Officer with 37 years of service.  She is also the daughter of a Navy retiree Dad.  They have 4 grown children. She has enjoyed being involved with spouse groups throughout their Navy career and now in retirement.  They have lived in 4 different places since retiring, and are waiting for their next set of orders!

Hi, I’m Pauline Meno—wife to recently retired Mike, mom of four, and a full-time government contractor supporting the Navy. Apparently I don’t know how to relax, so I also volunteer with Dinner Club because it’s the perfect excuse to meet new people while convincing myself that eating at new restaurants counts as a hobby. If there’s good food, good company, and minimal cooking on my part, I’m in.

She was and raised in Boston, Massachusetts and is an avid sports fan! Baseball is her jam and you can find her planning vacations around different stadiums. She was able to visit all 13 ballparks in Japan while stationed there.

She is a graduate from Purdue University with a Bachelors in Special Education and received a Masters in Special Education from Lesley University. She has taught in all different settings and age groups, ranging from pre-K to junior college. 

She is a fierce advocate for Pregnancy & Infant Loss Awareness to honor her daughter born sleeping, Taylor. She has one living daughter, Logan, who is 6 years old and has been a Navy spouse since 2015 to her husband, Cole.

She cannot wait for this year ahead and to see what’s in store for TOSA!

Sarah Brooks is your Hand Stitch Happy Hour chair!

While she was born in Connecticut, she was raised in Alabama and loves southern hospitality. You won’t catch her showing up empty handed to a gathering. She is an ultra runner, having completed distances up to 50 miles. She loves any excuse to be outside, and you can find her kayaking, hiking, or camping when she has free time.  She is a mom to a fiercely independent 5 year old son and a spunky German shepherd mix.  

She is a graduate from the University of Alabama with a degree in Mechancial Engineering.  Since graduation she has received her Professional Engineer license as well as her Project Management Professional certification. While she used to work in shipbuilding designing systems for the LPD class of ships, she has reinvented her career since becoming a Navy spouse.  She now works as a requirements engineer for military health care systems. 

More of Sarah’s hobbies include sewing, knitting, and cross stitching. She does pattern testing for several indie sewing pattern companies, and she enjoys sharing her love for creating.  

She is excited to welcome everyone for the new year!

Zaneta is a photographer originally from New Mexico, but has spent the last decade on the East Coast. She lives in Virginia Beach with her husband, a Huey pilot in the Marines, her youngest daughter and her mom. Outside of homeschooling and shooting, she loves training Muay Thai.
